A century-old French-style villa in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, will be preserved despite initial plans to demolish it for a road construction project. The decision was made by the Dong Nai Party Committee, recognizing the villa's cultural, historical, and architectural significance.

Built between 1922 and 1924, the villa, located in Buu Long Ward, was initially set to be torn down due to its location within the 5.2-kilometer Dong Nai riverine road project. However, following evaluations and advocacy from the villa's owners, it will now be conserved. Ownership disputes among the descendants of the original owner, Vo Ha Thanh, have delayed efforts to officially classify the villa as a provincial monument.

The structure, which has deteriorated over time, remains an important architectural landmark and a symbol of the region's heritage.
