CLTV Forum Advances Regional Economic Cooperation

Officials from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam convene to bolster collaboration along the East-West Economic Corridor.
Officials from Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam convene in Champassak province to bolster collaboration on trade, investment, and tourism, aiming to accelerate the progress of the East-West Economic Corridor and the development triangle area.

Led by Dr. Vilayvong Bouddakham, Governor of Champassak province, and Nguyen Van Trung, the Vietnamese Consul General to Pakxe city, the forum brings together leaders from government authorities, businesses, and CLTV associations to strengthen ties and foster comprehensive cooperation.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Nguyen Van Trung emphasized its role in enhancing the amicable relations among the four nations, particularly emphasizing the strong bond between Vietnam and Laos. Additionally, the meeting aims to solidify connections between Champassak province and central and southern provinces in Vietnam, ensuring stability and resilience in the region.

Located at the heart of the East-West Economic Corridor, which spans Myanmar, northeastern Thailand, southern Laos, and central Vietnam, Champassak province plays a pivotal role in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam development triangle, driving economic growth and connectivity.

Initiated in 1998, the East-West Economic Corridor aims to boost economic cooperation, facilitate trade and investment, and spur local development along its route, ultimately reducing transportation costs and fostering regional prosperity.

Dr. Vilayvong underscored the forum's importance in promoting comprehensive cooperation among the four countries, emphasizing Laos' commitment to fulfilling cooperation agreements and deepening ties within the CLV and CLTV frameworks.

Participants exchanged insights on investment opportunities, preferential policies, and development prospects in their respective regions, with a focus on uniform development across sectors such as investment, trade, tourism, and connectivity. The forum sets the stage for future success by standardizing cooperation efforts and enhancing economic and socio-cultural ties for mutual benefit and enduring prosperity.
