Four-Lane Expansion Approved for Cam Lo–La Son Expressway

The Vietnamese government has approved the expansion of the Cam Lo–La Son Expressway from two lanes to four, starting in Cam Lo District and ending near the La Son–Hoa Lien project. The ninety-eight-point-three-five kilometer parallel road project, overseen by the Ministry of Transport, is funded by nearly six-and-a-half trillion Vietnamese dong from current and future public investment plans. It is categorized under Group A projects, which are essential infrastructural developments under the 2019 Law on Public Investment.
The government of Vietnam has approved the expansion of the Cam Lo–La Son Expressway from two lanes to four, as per Decision 1244/QD-TTg by the prime minister.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, a new ninety-eight-point-three-five kilometer road will be built in parallel with the existing expressway, stretching from Cam Lo District in Quang Tri Province to the vicinity of the La Son–Hoa Lien project in Thua Thien–Hue Province.

The publicly funded project will be overseen by the Ministry of Transport and falls under Group A category, which includes essential projects as defined by the 2019 Law on Public Investment.

The expansion is set to cost nearly five-point-five trillion Vietnamese dong from the 2021 to 2025 medium-term public investment plan, with an additional one trillion from the 2026 to 2030 plan.

The Ministry of Transport will work with local authorities to finalize project documentation, perform environmental impact assessments, and manage land clearance.
