Google Explores AI Development Collaboration with Vietnam

Tech giant plans to expand AI and cybersecurity cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation
Karan Bhatia, Google's Vice-President of Government Affairs, expressed the company’s interest in collaborating on artificial intelligence (AI) with Vietnam during his meeting with Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in New York. Bhatia reaffirmed Google's commitment to expanding its presence in Vietnam, where it recently opened a new office and operates a manufacturing facility.

Google plans to offer skills training in AI and provide support in regulatory frameworks for AI development. The company also hopes to collaborate on AI-integrated cloud services and cybersecurity. President Lam welcomed the proposal, emphasizing the importance of high-quality human resource development and encouraging Google to invest further in Vietnam.

In addition to Google, Lam met with leaders of AES and Pacifico Energy to discuss energy transition projects. Both companies expressed their long-term commitment to Vietnam’s clean energy growth and pledged to support the nation’s net-zero emissions target by 2050.
