Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2024 Boosts Vietnam-EU Cooperation in Sustainable Initiatives

Major event fosters partnerships and showcases innovative solutions for Vietnam's green transition.
The Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2024, held from Monday to Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh City, stands as the year's largest event promoting cooperation between Vietnam and the European Union (EU) in green economic initiatives. Aimed at supporting Vietnam's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, the forum brings together experts, government officials, and over 200 exhibitors from 13 countries.

Featuring seminars, high-level business dialogues, and an expansive expo, GEFE 2024 showcases products and solutions aligned with Vietnam's circular economy goals and emission reduction efforts. The Netherlands leads with the largest booth, presenting over 50 companies specializing in water management, logistics, agriculture, and sustainable practices. The UK highlights 17 companies focusing on offshore wind, hydrogen energy, and energy storage, reflecting its keen interest in Vietnam's offshore wind potential. France and Switzerland also actively participate, emphasizing their roles in Vietnam's green transition through energy, water, and sustainable infrastructure projects.

As part of the event, the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Trade Promotion Agency and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam organized a Vietnam-Europe business networking conference, attracting nearly 80 leading companies. Vu Ba Phu, head of the Trade Promotion Agency, emphasized the growing integration of Vietnamese companies into European supply chains, noting that Vietnam has become the largest exporter to the EU among ASEAN nations. In the first half of 2024, Vietnam's exports to the EU reached $24.7 billion, a 15.3% increase from the previous year, while imports from the EU totaled $7.7 billion.
