Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City’s Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1, are ramping up inspections to tackle illegal passenger bus parking, which has caused disruptions in the area. Local officials have been monitoring buses during peak hours and have fined violators, collecting over 47 million dong in 2024 alone. Since the start of this year, 17 more violations have been recorded, resulting in additional fines.

The ward has engaged with 18 of the 21 bus companies operating along Pham Ngu Lao Street, securing commitments to comply with regulations. Officials also continue to coordinate with police and transport inspectors to conduct random checks. Meanwhile, the management board of the New Mien Dong Bus Station has proposed stricter regulations, including banning large inter-provincial passenger vehicles from entering the city center, except for specific services like tourist and official transport.

These efforts are aimed at reducing congestion, improving public transport efficiency, and preventing illegal passenger pick-ups. Local authorities pledge continued enforcement to ensure compliance and minimize disturbances for residents and commuters.
