La Thaïlande et le Vietnam appellent à l'action de l'ASEAN pour résoudre le conflit au Myanmar

La Thaïlande et le Vietnam ont appelé à un consensus de l'ASEAN sur le conflit au Myanmar lors de la 5e Commission mixte de coopération bilatérale (JCBC-5) à Bangkok.
Le ministre thaïlandais des Affaires étrangères, M. Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara, et son homologue vietnamien, M. Bui Thanh Son, étaient présents. Les deux pays partagent l'objectif d'une situation politique pacifique et unifiée au Myanmar. Ils ont exprimé leur préoccupation face à l'aggravation du conflit près de la frontière thaïlandaise-myanmar et ont convenu de la nécessité d'une déclaration commune de l'ASEAN. Le Vietnam est prêt à soutenir l'initiative de la Thaïlande sur le "couloir humanitaire" dans la zone frontalière dans le cadre des efforts de l'ASEAN pour assurer la paix dans la région. Le texte indique que le Laos présidera l'ASEAN cette année, avec la Chine et les États-Unis soutenant son rôle. L'accent est mis sur le renforcement de la centralité et de l'unité au sein de l'ASEAN pour répondre aux préoccupations régionales, en particulier en ce qui concerne la mer de Chine méridionale. Aucun détail n'a été donné sur la façon dont l'ASEAN prévoit d'assurer la paix au Myanmar, où les forces anti-junta ont revendiqué la victoire dans une ville frontalière, ce qui a conduit à des rapports de fonctionnaires et de leurs familles fuyant vers la Thaïlande. Le gouvernement thaïlandais a défendu l'atterrissage d'un avion militaire en provenance de Birmanie, affirmant qu'il était là pour livrer des "documents d'État". Simultanément, la Thaïlande a porté ses relations avec le Vietnam à un partenariat stratégique global.
