On November 24, 2024, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center held a significant meeting with Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, the Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam. The meeting underscored the ongoing collaboration between the center and UNESCO, which has already provided valuable support in the conservation of Vietnam’s cultural heritage.
The center aims to expand its efforts over the next few years, building on the strong partnership with UNESCO. Key activities include sharing knowledge, conducting conservation training, and engaging in scientific research and heritage promotion. The center also requested UNESCO's assistance with technical support, heritage impact assessments, improving management capacity, and addressing climate change challenges.
In addition to these activities, the center is focused on restoring key heritage sites, including the Khai Tuong Lau and the Hon Chen Palace. They are also working with UNESCO to bring Nguyen Dynasty relics back to Vietnam and are seeking funding for these projects.
