Around 150 human remains were uncovered in downtown Hanoi’s Dong Da District during the construction of a drainage system on Tay Son Street. Workers discovered the remains about a meter underground in Alley 167 over the past two weeks. Ha Anh Tuan, vice chairman of the Dong Da District People’s Committee, confirmed the find but stated that the identities of the remains have not yet been determined. Authorities will relocate the remains to proper cemeteries if they are unclaimed, and construction has been temporarily suspended while this process takes place.

This is not the first discovery of human remains in the area. In 2015, construction workers found around 200 remains while building drainage systems along Tay Son Street. These remains were later moved to a cemetery in Ba Vi District. Locals noted that Quang Trung Ward, which includes part of Tay Son Street, was once home to a large cemetery, and when developments such as the Trade Union University were constructed, several graves had to be relocated.

The ongoing discoveries highlight the area's historical significance, with human remains found in previous construction projects raising questions about the area’s long history as a burial site.
