Inaugural Vietnam International Piano Competition & Festival Opens Registration

VIPCF aims to become Vietnam’s premier piano contest and cultural event, welcoming global talent
The Vietnam International Piano Competition & Festival (VIPCF), aiming to establish itself as one of the country’s foremost piano competitions and cultural events, officially opened its registration on November 11, 2024. Organized by Maestoso under the patronage of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute of Poland, and Bösendorfer, VIPCF invites pianists of all ages and nationalities to participate via [https://forms.gle/VUqBtJNdRKzwZ1cF8](https://forms.gle/VUqBtJNdRKzwZ1cF8).

Under the motto “A United Stage,” VIPCF seeks to provide piano students of all levels with opportunities for international exchange and professional performance experiences. The competition’s Open Call round will select the top four candidates, who will perform in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with two finalists in each city. These finalists will also qualify for direct admission to the final round of VIPCF 2025.

The competition’s jury is composed of esteemed international pianists, including the renowned Argentine pianist Daniel Rivera, Belgium’s prestigious Johan Schmidt, acclaimed Armenian pianist and Head of the Piano Department at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan Armen Babakhanian, and Vietnamese professor and People’s Teacher Tran Thu Ha.

To celebrate the debut of the Bösendorfer 280VC piano in Vietnam, VIPCF’s organizing committee, in collaboration with Maestoso, LA Music, and artist Luu Duc Anh, will present a special solo piano program titled “From Brightness to Greatness” in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This event will also serve as the inaugural piano recital of VIPCF 2025, scheduled for Friday, November 22, at 8 pm at the Vietnam National Academy of Music in Hanoi. Vietnamese pianist Luu Duc Anh will perform iconic works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, including Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 10, KV. 330 in C major, and Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op. 57, "Appassionata" in F minor.

Additionally, the two winners of the open selection round will perform well-known works by Frédéric Chopin, such as Nocturnes, Mazurkas, Waltzes, and "Réminiscences de Norma," S.394.

Founded in 2017, Maestoso is a pioneering classical music organization in Vietnam, dedicated to enriching the country's classical music scene through its expertise and commitment. VIPCF reflects Maestoso’s passion for fostering Vietnamese talent and promoting cultural exchange on an international stage.
