Polish Woman Detained After False Bomb Threat on Thai Vietjet Flight

Incident on flight from Da Nang to Bangkok causes temporary disruption
A Polish woman was temporarily detained at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Thailand after allegedly making a false bomb threat during a Thai Vietjet flight from Da Nang, Vietnam. The VZ961 flight, carrying 121 passengers, including one infant and six crew members, was isolated upon landing. Security, medical, and emergency teams swiftly responded, escorting the plane to a designated area where all passengers and their luggage were thoroughly searched. No explosives or suspicious items were found, and authorities determined the threat to be a false alarm.

Following the search, the Polish woman was taken to Suvarnabhumi police station for questioning. Thai authorities concluded she had used prohibited language on board without malicious intent. The false threat did not impact airport operations, and the emergency response plan was lifted shortly after the search. Thai Vietjet, which is a joint venture between Vietjet and Thailand’s Kan Air, opted not to press charges against the woman.

According to Thai law, individuals who make false bomb threats can face imprisonment for up to five years or fines of up to 200,000 Thai baht. In more severe cases where the threat endangers the aircraft, the penalties could be higher. The airline confirmed that all its safety procedures complied with international standards and stated that such actions causing panic or disruption will be dealt with according to the law.
