The tourism sector of Quang Tri Province in north-central Vietnam has proposed inviting the British Royal Cave Association to survey Van Tien Cave and investigate other unexplored caves reported by locals. Ho Van Hoan, deputy director of the Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, announced on Thursday that the department had submitted a proposal to the provincial People's Committee.

Van Tien Cave, located in Tria Village, Huong Son Commune, Huong Hoa District, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. Situated in the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve, the cave was discovered in 2020 and is currently preserved.

A preliminary survey was conducted in 2020 by the provincial department in collaboration with the district’s administration and other relevant units. Locals have reported several other unexplored caves in Cat and Tria Villages.

In June, the provincial department plans to scout the area, mark locations, and identify cave entrances. Experts from the British Royal Cave Association or speleologists from a travel firm in Quang Binh Province are expected to conduct the survey in August.

Van Tien Cave features impressive stalactites of various shapes and sizes and an underground river system with two large lakes housing fish and shrimp. Despite its potential, the cave has yet to be developed for tourism activities.
