Thailand Tops ASEAN in Dairy Exports with US$582M, Showing 11.5% Growth in 2024.

In 2024, Thai dairy exports experienced a significant boost of 11.5%, totaling US$582 million, driven by duty-free access through ASEAN FTAs and robust market growth in major countries.
On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Deputy Minister of Commerce Suchart Chomklin revealed that Thailand's dairy exports saw an increase of 11.5% in 2024, culminating in a total value of US$582 million, equivalent to approximately 19.623 billion baht.

The growth was particularly notable in key markets, with Malaysia experiencing a 64.3% surge, followed by Vietnam at 30.4%, Indonesia at 27.1%, Singapore at 20.1%, the Philippines at 19%, and Myanmar at 14.6%.

Thai dairy products enjoy duty-free access in ASEAN thanks to the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA), which boosts their competitiveness in the regional market.

High-demand products include yogurt, drinking yogurt, ultra-high temperature milk, and soy milk mixed with dairy.

Beyond robust regional performance, Thai dairy exports have also penetrated significant markets such as China, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, and Hong Kong, where free trade agreements have removed import tariffs on these goods.

Deputy Minister Suchart further instructed the Department of Trade Negotiations to investigate potential free trade agreements with emerging markets in Africa and South America.

Thailand aims to conclude negotiations with South Korea and through the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement by 2025 to enhance market access, lower trade barriers, and fortify its global standing in the dairy sector.
