On November 29, 2024, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam, alongside a delegation from the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, visited Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Laos' Minister of Foreign Affairs, to extend congratulations on the occasion of Laos' 49th National Day. Ambassador Tam praised the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its contributions to Laos' successful role as ASEAN Chair in 2024 and its leadership in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45). He also highlighted the growing Vietnam-Laos relationship, especially in the economic sector, and expressed hopes for continued collaboration between the Vietnamese Embassy and Laos’ foreign ministry.

Minister Phomvihane expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s longstanding support and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the ties between the two nations, especially in implementing high-level agreements and strategic cooperation projects.

In addition to his meeting with Phomvihane, Ambassador Tam also visited Bounlua Phandanouvong, acting head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party’s Commission for External Relations, on November 25. Tam emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to promote high-level agreements and facilitate bilateral exchanges.

Meanwhile, in Malaysia, Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh and the Vietnamese delegation visited the Lao Embassy to celebrate Laos' National Day. Lao Ambassador Thepthavone expressed thanks for Vietnam’s support, especially during Laos’ ASEAN Chairmanship, and discussed plans to enhance cooperation within the ASEAN framework, looking ahead to Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
