Vietnam and Russia Strengthen Ties with Nuclear Energy Cooperation and Strategic Partnerships
Prime Ministers Discuss Expanding Economic, Technological, and Cultural Collaboration
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin affirmed Russia's readiness to support Vietnam in developing its nuclear power industry during talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on January 14.
The two leaders highlighted science and technology cooperation, particularly in constructing a nuclear science and technology research center in Vietnam. Mishustin also proposed stronger ties in healthcare, labor, and pharmaceuticals.
The meeting, marking the start of celebrations for the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations, concluded with the signing of a joint communiqué and several cooperation agreements. Both sides pledged to deepen collaboration in energy, education, tourism, and transport, while enhancing political dialogue and people-to-people exchanges.
Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful dispute resolution in the East Sea and requested Russia’s support in ensuring maritime security. The leaders also agreed to strengthen coordination in international forums and continue supporting their citizens living in each other's countries.
