Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's decision to adjust the investment of the World Bank-funded Forest Sector Modernisation and Coastal Resilience Enhancement Project brings further support to 4,040 hectares of forests in eight coastal localities. The project aims to bolster resilience in these areas, including Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien-Hue.

Protective forests covering 37,956 hectares are under review and protection fee payment, with plans to hand over the entire area to local management after 2026. Livelihood investment packages, production technology initiatives, and infrastructure developments are also in progress to sustainably enhance local income and protect coastal resources.

This project aligns with Vietnam's sustainable forestry development goals for 2021-2025, bolstering the resilience of vulnerable coastal areas along a stretch of approximately 900 kilometers. Over 6,500 households directly benefit from the project, with an additional 12,000 indirectly supported, demonstrating its positive impact on local communities, particularly women.
