In a significant move, the Vietnamese government has announced the prioritization of two high-speed railroad lines in the north by 2030, one of which will connect with China.

The Hanoi - Lang Son line, extending to the Chinese border, and a line linking Hanoi with Lao Cai Province via Hai Phong and Quang Ninh Province, are part of the broader strategy for the Red River Delta's development. This decision aims to enhance transport infrastructure, alleviate congestion, and drive economic growth.

Considered a critical step in modernizing Vietnam's transport network, the high-speed rail lines will bolster connectivity with China and support overall economic development goals. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the urgency of developing a "synchronized, modern" north-south high-speed rail network, aligning with global trends and national interests.

With proposed operational speeds of 320 kph, the high-speed rail project through 20 cities and provinces is set to revolutionize transportation in Vietnam. The government aims to secure investment by 2025, commence construction before 2030, and achieve completion by 2045, signaling a strong commitment to advancing the country's infrastructure and connectivity.
