As Vietnam's economy continues to recover, certain industries such as e-commerce, logistics, and construction are grappling with a labor shortage despite rising demand. Recruitment in these sectors increased by 30 percent in the first eight months of 2024, yet 85 percent of companies reported shortages, with some lacking over half of the workers needed.

A major issue is the lack of formal education programs for emerging industries. Companies like Scommerce, a logistics start-up, are forced to train their own staff, as schools do not yet offer courses in specialized fields like automated sorting and goods management.

In addition to a supply issue, job seekers’ expectations have changed. Candidates now prioritize salaries, work environments, and relationships with colleagues, with many seeking flexible work arrangements. Companies face challenges in screening applicants, and recruitment processes remain complex, with many candidates struggling to present themselves effectively.
