An elephant caused traffic disruption in central Quang Nam Province on Tuesday after escaping from its enclosure at a zoo in Thang Binh District. The elephant ran onto Vo Chi Cong Street and later entered National Highway 14E at around 11 a.m., leading to a temporary halt in traffic. Despite efforts by zoo employees to lure the animal back with fruits, they were forced to follow it for monitoring purposes.

Local police quickly responded by setting up barriers to block the roads, ensuring the safety of both the elephant and motorists. After traveling approximately six kilometers, the elephant finally followed its mahout and returned to the zoo around 3:30 p.m., an hour later. Officials from the Quang Nam forest protection department confirmed the elephant, weighing four tons, had been recently transferred to the zoo but had not yet acclimated to its new environment. Discussions are underway to determine the cause of the escape and prevent future incidents.
