Vietnamese Culture Week Celebrates Friendship with Laos

A vibrant showcase of tradition and unity in Vientiane
The 2024 Vietnamese Culture Week opened in Vientiane, Laos, on December 10, celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations. The event, themed “Colours of Vietnamese Culture, Vietnam-Laos Friendship,” was jointly organised by Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and Laos' Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism.

Vietnam’s Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong highlighted the week’s role in strengthening ties, offering audiences a glimpse into Vietnam's cultural richness through traditional music and dance. Lao Deputy Minister Vansy Kouamoua commended the event’s alignment with the Laos-Vietnam Cultural Cooperation Plan for 2021-2025, fostering closer cultural ties.

Performances by Vietnamese artists and students from the Nguyen Du bilingual school captivated attendees, blending traditional instruments like the bamboo flute and dan bau with heartfelt tributes to President Ho Chi Minh and the shared history of the two countries.
