Eleven teenagers from Thanh Hoa Province have been fined a total of VND78 million for reckless driving on the Nghi Son–Dien Chau Expressway in central Vietnam during the Lunar New Year. Traffic police issued administrative penalties for multiple violations, including driving without helmets, operating motorbikes without license plates, lacking vehicle registration certificates, and underage driving of motorbikes with engines over 50cc.

The group, consisting of junior high and high school students, was caught speeding, weaving dangerously, and forcing cars to swerve to avoid collisions on January 29. They admitted to heading to a pagoda and claimed they mistakenly entered the expressway. In an attempt to evade detection, they removed their motorbike license plates and hid them in the bike trunks.

Authorities have impounded six motorbikes for seven days and informed local schools and officials to take further disciplinary measures. Investigations are ongoing to determine if others were involved in providing vehicles to unqualified drivers.
