The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport is set to expand its use of artificial intelligence (AI) to manage traffic lights at key congested intersections. AI technology is already in use at several critical junctions, including Hang Xanh, Dai Liet Si, and intersections in Binh Thanh District. Since its implementation, these areas have experienced more stable traffic conditions. Building on this success, the department plans to extend AI-based traffic control to busy zones like Tan Son Nhat International Airport and central city areas.

Additionally, the department is developing projects using Digital Twin technology integrated with next-generation AI to automatically monitor traffic on major roads such as Pham Van Dong, Vo Van Kiet, and Mai Chi Tho. This system collects real-time data to detect congestion and accidents, enabling timely alerts for operators. The city manages 1,070 traffic light posts, with a combination of automated and independently operated systems, and continues to address issues like power outages and equipment malfunctions through real-time monitoring and adjustments.

To further ease congestion, traffic police, task forces, and volunteers are actively deployed during peak hours to manage traffic flow. These combined efforts aim to create a safer and more efficient transportation system for Ho Chi Minh City.
