Vietnamese airline Vietjet has signed a significant agreement to support Laos in developing its aviation infrastructure, a move witnessed by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his official visit to Laos. The project is expected to be completed within six months and aligns with the two countries' nine-year strategic cooperation agreement on transportation.

While details of the airport network upgrade remain undisclosed, Vietjet’s Aviation Institute will provide international-standard training programs to strengthen Laos’ aviation workforce. This initiative is set to create 2,500 new jobs and establish the country's first independent Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul center.

Prime Minister Chinh also met with Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith to discuss key infrastructure projects, including the Vung Ang Port development, a Vientiane-Hanoi highway, and enhanced electricity trade, further solidifying bilateral cooperation.
