Vietnam and Laos are deepening their economic partnership by encouraging investments in border economic zones and industrial clusters to boost trade and industrial collaboration.

At the 2025 Vietnam–Laos Investment Cooperation Conference on January 9, Vietnam’s Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen Chi Dung, highlighted opportunities in agriculture, aquaculture, renewable energy, and mineral processing. He also urged exploration in eco-tourism and resort developments in Laos.

Vietnam’s investment in Laos rose by 62.1 percent in 2024 to 191.1 million US dollars, totaling 267 projects worth 5.7 billion US dollars. Bilateral trade grew to 2.2 billion US dollars, with Laos enjoying a trade surplus of 732.7 million US dollars.
