Vietnam’s digital economy surged in 2024, driven by growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and major partnerships. Notably, NVIDIA’s partnership with Vietnam, including the establishment of the Vietnam Research and Development Center (VRDC), marks a critical step in advancing the country’s AI capabilities. Viettel and FPT have also committed significant investments, with Viettel building a $100 million AI data center and FPT launching a $200 million AI Factory.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted Vietnam’s potential to become a global exporter of AI solutions, emphasizing the need to leverage local data and expand AI infrastructure. Experts project AI could contribute up to $200 billion to Vietnam’s GDP by 2030.

Vietnam is also drafting a legal framework for AI development, focusing on ethical standards, security, and responsible innovation. These efforts are expected to make AI and semiconductors key pillars of the nation’s economy in the coming years.
