Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed relevant agencies to finalize all investment procedures and commence construction on the second runway at Long Thanh International Airport by January 2025. During his site visit to the airport project and its regional transport connectivity on December 3, the PM reiterated the urgency of expediting this significant infrastructure project, which will enhance Vietnam’s aviation capacity. This marks the fifth time PM Chinh has inspected the site, reflecting the government's commitment to accelerating the airport’s development.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to finalize the design plans, secure necessary funding, and select contractors to ensure that construction of the second runway begins in early 2025. The runway is part of the second phase of the airport project, which is expected to further develop the country’s aviation hub and support economic growth. Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc has been tasked with overseeing the funding for the expansion of the HCMC-Long Thanh Expressway. Phoc is expected to submit proposed solutions to the Prime Minister by December 15, ensuring the timely submission of relevant documents to the National Assembly within the month.
