Ho Chi Minh City has unveiled an ambitious master plan aimed at transforming the city into a multi-center metropolis by 2050. Approved by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the plan envisions HCMC as a smart, sustainable urban hub with a high quality of life and a leading economic and innovation center in the region.
Central to the plan is a multi-center development model, featuring a central business district and six satellite cities. The city aims for an annual GDP growth rate of 8.5 to 9 percent and a per capita income reaching up to 15,400 US dollars by 2030. The service sector is expected to dominate the economy, contributing over 60 percent of GDP, with the digital economy making up more than 40 percent.
By 2030, HCMC’s population is projected to reach 11 million, growing to 14.5 million by 2050. Urbanization is expected to exceed 90 percent by 2030. Key priorities include modern infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and enhanced regional and global connectivity, reinforcing HCMC's role as a dynamic global city.
