PM Advocates for Nuclear Power and Innovation to Sustain Growth

Vietnam targets energy security, faster public investment, and talent development
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for reactivating Vietnam’s nuclear power project and expanding offshore wind power to meet soaring energy demands. Speaking at the 15th National Assembly’s 8th session, he highlighted that electricity demand is projected to rise by 12–13% in 2025. He also urged amendments to the Law on Electricity to streamline power development and ensure energy security.

The PM acknowledged public investment disbursement delays, with only 52.29% of planned capital allocated in the first 10 months of 2024. He pledged to raise disbursement rates to over 95% by year-end to sustain economic momentum and meet the annual GDP growth target of 7%.

Chinh also emphasized education and innovation, allocating 20% of the State budget to education and introducing policies to attract talent in digital, green, and knowledge-based economies. The Government aims to enhance infrastructure for science and technology and foster startup ecosystems as part of its development strategy.
