A seminar focused on energy, industry, and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the US was recently held in Washington, organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in the US. The event attracted a large crowd of overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs, intellectuals, and scientists with expertise in these sectors. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hoàng Long opened the seminar by emphasizing the vital role of the Vietnamese community in the US in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering economic cooperation.

During the seminar, delegates discussed challenges in Vietnam’s energy, trade, and investment sectors, particularly in renewable energy and infrastructure. Experts called for addressing issues such as unstable legal frameworks, human resources, and opportunity costs to attract more US investment. The energy sector, especially solar and wind energy, was highlighted as a key area of opportunity, with US investors looking to diversify away from China and invest in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. In response, the MoIT plans to collaborate with relevant agencies to provide updated information and policies for the Vietnamese diaspora, facilitating trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the US.

Moving forward, the MoIT will continue organizing programs and consultations with Vietnamese entrepreneurs and scientists abroad to help shape policies and build strong trade and industry development strategies. These efforts aim to enhance cooperation and strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the US.
