Hòa Bình Exports Honey and Pickled Onions to the UK

Specialty agricultural products showcase the province’s growing global reach
Hòa Bình Province has successfully exported its first shipment of honey and pickled pearl onions to the UK. Produced by Green Life Cooperative in Kim Bôi District and Phú Lai Agricultural Cooperative in Yên Thủy District, the shipment weighs two tonnes and is valued at over VNĐ300 million (approximately $11,800). These products, certified under the One Commune – One Product (OCOP) initiative, met strict EU and UK food safety standards before shipping.

This is the province's second export to the UK, following a shipment of turmeric starch and honey-soaked peach lemon in July 2023. Hòa Bình has prioritized agricultural exports in recent years, with over 890,000 tonnes shipped globally this year, generating nearly $9 million in revenue.

The UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement has further boosted trade, with Vietnam's exports to the UK increasing by 21 percent year-on-year to $5.6 billion in the first nine months of 2024.
