Cambodia is set to host joint military exercises with Laos and Vietnam in November during the annual defence ministers’ meeting. This follows last year's inaugural "Border Defence Friendship Exchange," held in the tri-border area between the three countries. The announcement came in a September 15 statement from Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, which also detailed Defence Minister Tea Seiha’s recent participation in the Beijing Xiangshan Forum.

Laos Minister of National Defense General Chansamone Chanyalath and Vietnamese Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang have confirmed their participation in the meeting and exercises. The December 2023 exchange between the ministers at the tri-border area aimed to strengthen cooperation among the countries. It sought to build a border of peace, friendship, and stability while enhancing unity and mutual assistance between their governments and militaries.

During bilateral discussions, Cambodia and Laos agreed to increase the exchange of military officials and boost communication between border units to foster closer relations. Vietnamese Defence Minister Phan Van Giang expressed gratitude for Cambodia's support following recent storms and invited Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha to Vietnam’s 80th-anniversary celebration of the People’s Army in December 2024.
