Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Raises Funds for Typhoon Yagi Victims

Donation campaign gathers significant support for those affected in Laos and Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos launched a donation campaign on Sunday to aid those impacted by Typhoon Yagi. In just a few hours, the campaign raised nearly 1.4 billion Vietnamese Dong (57,000 US Dollars) in response to the appeal of General Secretary and President Tô Lâm and the Việt Nam Fatherland Front.

Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Việt Nam in Laos, Phan Minh Chiến, stated that part of the funds would be allocated to typhoon-hit regions in northern Laos, while the remainder would be directed to assist typhoon victims in Việt Nam. As of 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Typhoon Yagi and its aftermath have resulted in 330 people being reported dead or missing in Việt Nam, with 292 confirmed fatalities. The typhoon has also caused severe flooding in Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar, impacting thousands.
