HCM City Increases Efforts to Shelter Homeless and Vulnerable Groups

City Implements Policy to Bring Homeless into Social Shelters
HCM City has been actively working to bring homeless people and beggars, including children, into social shelters. Over the past year, more than 2,350 homeless individuals were moved to these shelters, marking a 49 percent increase from the previous year. This effort includes supporting children, the elderly, working-age individuals, and those with disabilities.

Despite these efforts, homelessness persists due to economic issues and the influx of people from various regions seeking a better living. The city has proposed enhancing public awareness, community support, and improved coordination to help these vulnerable groups. HCM City currently operates 16 public social support centers, caring for 6,505 people, along with 64 private centers housing 3,177 individuals.
