Foreign investors have poured $2.4 billion into Vietnam's real estate market in the first eight months of this year, a fivefold increase compared to the same period last year, as reported by the General Statistics Office (GSO). This surge places real estate second in terms of foreign investment in the country, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the total foreign direct investment (FDI) registered during this period.

Existing real estate projects saw an additional $150,000 in capital, bringing the total foreign investment in the sector to $2.55 billion—3.7 times higher than the previous year. Additionally, $1.27 billion of this investment has already been disbursed, doubling the figure from 2023.

According to Savills Vietnam, FDI is a crucial driver for the market, particularly for industrial property. The influx of foreign capital is also boosting segments like retail, office, and housing. With an 80 percent occupancy rate across 33,000 hectares of industrial zones, demand for industrial property is rising. General director of InCorp Vietnam, Jack Nguyễn, noted that global manufacturers shifting their production base to Vietnam are fueling investments in industrial property, as well as in office and housing markets.
